Labs

The design and execution of an experiment is a critical aspect of scientific training. Rather than providing `recipe labs', students will be expected to design their own laboratory procedure to address a specific scientific question.

1 - Elastic diffraction

2 - Thermal transport

3 - Electronic transport

In-class Demos/Activities

One of the goals of this class is to help students gain a deeper understanding of the material by including demonstrations and activities during the in-class time.

Topic:

1 - Structure & Bonding

2 - Crystallography & Crystal Structures

3 - Introduction to Elastic Diffraction

4 - Advanced Elastic Diffraction

5 - Phonon Dispersions

6 - Phonon Transport

7 - Inelastic Scattering

8 - Free Electron Model

9 - Electrons in a Weak Potential

10 - Intrinsic Semiconductors

11 - Electrons in a Strong Potential (LCAO)

12 - Extrinsic Semiconductors

13 - Semiconductor Devices

14 - Final Exam Review
